Kanyakumari Bhagavathi amman temple:

    Devi Kanyakumari, is ShreeBaavathi in the form of an adolescent girl child. Devi is also known as Shree Baala or Shree Bala Bhathra. She is popularly known as Bagavati, Durga and Parvathy. The templ is located in the southern tip of mainland India, at the confluence of three seas Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
  Sage Parashurama performed the consecration of the temple. It is also believed that it is the first Temple built by Sage Parashurama.

The history of Devi temple dates back the Vedic times. She has been mentioned in Ramayana, Mahabarata and Sangam works Manimekalai, Purananooru, Narayana Upanishad, a Vaishnava upanishad in tittiriya samhitha of Krishna Yajur Veda.

HISTORY OF TEMPLE
   The mythological story is Banan Asura, by birth was the ruler of his land. He was a powerfull king. He took severe penance and obtained a boon from Lord Bramha that his death will be only in hands of a adolescent girl. With the powerfull boon he became fearless and conquired the three world. His evil ways caused much agony to Devas, Sages and Saints. Unable to bear the harassment Devas and Sages approached to worship Lord Vishnu and requested to kill Banan Asura. Lord Vishnu suggested them to worship Sakthi (Parvathy) the Goddess of universe. Answering the prayers of apressed, Sakthi appered as Kumari (a young adolescent girl)
